Lucy is a chamber and orchestral flautist and flute teacher based in the Bristol area. Lucy has recorded solo flute music for radio, television, London stage productions and most recently for the exhibition ‘The Power of Making’ at the Victoria and Albert Museum. Lucy also enjoys ensemble work with the Belgrave Trio, guitarist James Smith, pianist Bethan Scolding and enjoys further exploring the flute repertoire with the flute quartet Flute Allsorts.
Lucy studied for a BMus at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama during which she was awarded the Simon Clarkeson Memorial Award for best all-round musician and a bursary to attend the Oxford Flute Summer School. Lucy's interest in pedagogy began in when she was awarded a place on the Teacher’s International Development Scheme which enabled her to go to America to observe large group instrumental teaching. This led to Lucy achieving a first class Masters degree in Instrumental Teaching from the University of Reading.
Lucy is a dedicated instrumental teacher giving individual flute lessons, small group and whole class music lessons and running multiple flute ensembles. Lucy is passionate about inspiring her students to develop a love of music by exploring the wide-ranging flute repertoire.
Lucy is a trustee for Greenwich Music School, a centre of musical excellence providing bursaries for families who would otherwise be unable to access high quality music education.
